Magnolias Catching my fancy - and the cake featured here actually looks edible - unlike the uber popular fondant cakes which just dont look endulgent enough. Anyone know if we can get the gigantic magnolias in November?

These plates remind me of the sea glass my brother sister and dad collected on the beaches in Satellite. I went on to bring some back from portugal - and have a few pieces scattered around the house, on Daniel’s desk. Dad always gave extra points if you scored a blue piece, those were the real treasures.

Flower Power
I have always known Daniel’s love to be true. He is a believer and more romantic than me, which I adore. After Daniel and his British posse left Florida in the summer of ‘07 there was no telling what would become of my dreamboat and I, but I felt optimistic a lovely adventure would ensue. Melancholy but for a moment, until I walked up the steps to my little yellow apartment in the Gainesville ghetto. (Not the “student ghetto”, the real ghetto.) Sitting there on the doorstep was a glass vase bursting with orange, yellow and red lilies the biggest most vibrant flowers I’ve ever seen.
These of course eventually faded but only then to be replaced by orchids, and then the following week roses and the following gerber daisies. Every single week until we met again.
Now we are wedding planning. And I am flower shopping and beginning to learn just exactly how much he had invested into our long distance love affair.
Damn flowers are expensive!
But they are a nuptial necessity - it’s not a wedding without flowers and for many months our relationship was nothing but telephone calls and the surprise of gorgeous peonies on my doorstep. So I am on the hunt for something romantic, something that will remind me of walking up the steps to my apartment and realizing I might have to wait a bit - but my prince charming was well on his way.

Colour, Color & the Magnificent Kuler
My grasp on the world of color (or colour depending on which side of the Atlantic you are on) is menial to say the least. And you only need to look as far as the kitchen walls in my first home to find out. There, buried underneath the pistachio walls, you will find are meringue ones and under those lavender ones and under those robins egg blue ones…. all which were applied during a 7 day stint while mom was “testing” colors. This side of the Hart clan have learned the hard way to stick with what is safe and always hire a professional.
SO we did. Her name is Heather and she will be the voice of reason, taste and style to guide us through the planning process. You can take a peek at some of her handywork here: Event Jolie
We have a lot of work to do. (According to Martha we are already 2 months behind schedule.) Thankfully church and venue are settled, which brings me to my next task; color.
But have no fear. I have made a miraculous discovery today.
It is part of my job to know the web, how to utilize it and where to find the good stuff, so lacking the natural ability to put a shade of purple next to pink and have it look decent, I turned to software. Kuler is a website that lets you run wild with color while automatically adjusting your choices to make them look like a Benjamin Moore inspiration board. You can even… this is the magnificent part … upload any photo and it will match the colors and shades in the photos to create a color palate.
You have to try it to understand the awsomeness.
I found this picture on The Knot.
So I uploaded it to Kuler arranged some dots and wha La!

Pretty Magnificent.
